The brief was to tackle a narrow block of only five metres wide, provide a self contained dwelling and harness the natural light.
The concept was to turn the original two rooms of the 1870’s cottage into a one bedroom studio and seperate the main dwelling by an internal courtyard to harness the north facing light. The cottage to sit towards the front of the block and the new dwelling to the rear.
Stage one (The Cottage) has recently been completed and construction for stage two commenced mid November 2018.
Architects, Jamie Sormann and Jo Foong of Foomann Architects were enlisted to design the rear dwelling. We love the concept and in particular, the huge curved ceiling and the view from the lounge room looking back towards the original 1870’s cottage.
The home will give us flexibility; whether it be for family, friends or a way to produce rental income.
We can’t wait to share our journey!
